Mary Kom inaugurated the 4th Edition of Ekal Run organized by Ekal Yuva, the youth wing of Friends of Tribals Society, Kolkata Chapter
Ekal Yuva, the youth wing of Friends of Tribals Society, Kolkata Chapter organized its annual flagship event Ekal Run on 8th January 2023 at Godrej Waterside Building, Kolkata wherein 3500+ participants ran for their chosen category of timed run – 21km, 10km, 5km and non-timed /fun run of 3km. People of all age group participated in the run. Warm up Zumba sessions were also organized to charge up the runners. The 4th edition of Ekal Run was inaugurated by: Mary Kom -World Champion & Olympian Boxer, Adrian Pratt-Acting Consul General USA-Kolkata ,Ajit Kr Tete-DIG BSF,Manogya Loiwal-Senior Journalist & Anchor,Rahul Dev Bose-Television Actor,Karan Kakkad-Founder and CEO Reverse Factor and many other eminent personalities. Some well known film directors, film critics, authors, bloggers, health experts, beauty pageant winners, sports champions were present to support the cause and encourage the runners. The guests were felicitated by the organizing committee and the senior members of the organization present during the run. The Guests flagged off the run, appreciated the entire arrangement and the noble mission behind this initiative of engaging the youths of Kolkata with Ekal and to raise fund for Ekal Vidyalaya.
Completing a run is a great achievement for anybody. However, the possibility of changing somebody’s life being added to every step in your run can give you a sense of pride like no other. This makes Ekal Run more enthralling to the Kolkatians. The run ensures included Tshirt, Medals, Goodie Bag and Food boxes. Winners and runners- up were awarded with mementos. Some Ekal Vidyalaya students ,Acharya and Sanch Pramukh also shared the stage with Mary Kom. Mary Kom interacted with the ekal children and children were also very excited and pleased meeting her.
The event was streamed live over our youtube channel (FTSBharat) and covered by major new channels and newspapers of Kolkata. The entire proceeds of this run will go to the education of children studying in Ekal Vidyalaya. Many renowned corporate brands of Kolkata came forward in support of Ekal run. Skipper limited was the title sponsor of the run. CenturyPly and Dr Choice co -sponsored the event. Dollar, Eden Group, Austin Plywood, S.M.Group, The Logical Lamp, Ewent, Anmol, The Academic Curator, Infinity Group and many more supported as sponsors.
