Pohila Baishakh Celebration
On April 15, 2023, a vibrant celebration of Bengali New Year was organised by Mahila Samity, Kolkata Chapter at the residence of Smt. Pratibha Binani. Some of the program’s highlights included the enchanting Bengali Traditional Dress Code, engaging games of Housie and Quiz, as well as an exchange of information on Bengali traditions. During the event, members also showcased their cultural talents by performing Rabindra Sangeet, and an interesting touch was added by bestowing titles based on the relationships found in a Bengali joint family, such as Kaki Maa and Masi Maa. To add to the festive spirit, all attendees were gifted with Pan and Supari, a customary practice in Bengali culture. The culinary delights of Bengali Traditional Food were savored by all. In the spirit of community and generosity, funds were raised through the game of Housie, with a portion dedicated as rewards for the winners, and the remaining sum set aside for the Samity’s activities.
